Child Care Matters

Tell Congress To Support The Child Care Is Essential Act

Licensed Child Care Providers Are The Backbone Of Our Economy

Tell Congress Child Care Is Essential To Our Economic Recovery, Now And In The Future

Child care programs across the country need help now. They have been financially devastated by the crisis and they are closing one by one. These small businesses are essential for the United States, providing a critical support that will allow parents to get back to work and rebuild our economy.

Already it is getting harder for parents to find child care, especially child care they can afford. Nationally, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation predicts that 4.5 million childcare slots will be lost and the Center For American Progress estimates that Maryland will lose 53 percent of its capacity, or more than 78,000 child care slots.

Closures on that scale will quickly cause a serve child care crisis, creating serious economic consequences for parents and businesses. To prevent that, Congress must pass The Child Care Is Essential Act. That will provide $50 billion to child care providers during and after the COVID-19 public health emergency to support the availability of safe, reliable, and affordable child care until the crisis is over.

Help save our child care infrastructure so there is a place for young children to go when their parents go back to work.

Please take a minute to send an email to your United States Congressman and Senators to tell them to vote for the Child Care Is Essential Act.
